what is a silkie chicken?
Silkies are renowned for their calm, friendly, and gentle temperament. They are often more tolerant of handling than other breeds, making them great companions, especially for families with children. They have a distinct fluffy plumage that feels like silk (hence their name).
Silkies don't require as much space as larger chicken breeds. This makes them suitable for smaller yards or gardens. They enjoy the company of their human families and can often be found following their owners around the yard, displaying a level of sociability that is not always seen in other chicken breeds.
